Foundations

Well at last I have finished all my under garments to begin construction on my bustle dress. There has been a change as to what I am going to do but I will get to that in a future post. For now here are pictures of my combinations, corset, bustle and petticoat. All items were created using patterns from Truly Victorian.

Vering off the Path

Well, the Polonaise is officially on hold while I work on the gear up for Pennsic War. So instead of bustles I am theoretically working on kirtles, cotehardies and various other medieval outfits. Of course, the problem with that is that I am entirely in a Victorian state of mind so that is making it hard to concentrate.
And since my dress form is sitting there all dressed in combinations, corset, bustle and petticoat it makes it doubly hard to work on projects these side projects. Somehow I have a feeling that I will crack before the event and start working on the skirt.

1860s Project

For my first dress diary I decided that I would make a replica of the Dolly Varden style polonaise on the left from La Mode Illustree.
My goal is to make this dress entirely from fabrics and trims that are already in my stash.
